Frank J. Vinci, Sr.

Frank J. Vinci Sr., 86 of Rockford passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009. Born January 29, 1923 in Rockford, the son of Philip and Antonio (Trapani) Vinci. He married Stella Casarotto on July 26, 1947. Frank was a foreman (header division) with National Lock for over 40 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Ranger landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy. Frank was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Svithiod Club. Frank was an excellent athlete in his youth, especially basketball. He loved his cabin in the northwoods, being around people, and his friends, but most of all his family was always first. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Pedro DeGuzman and staff for the special care they have given us. Frank is survived by his wife Stella, children Frank J. Vinci Jr., Pam (Jeff) Hansen, Greg (Michele) Vinci and Tammy Vinci- Patnou. Grandchildren Michael, David, Gregg, Krista, Nicole, Alex, Zack and brother Charles Vinci. Predeceased by his parents, sister Rose, brother Nick and great-grandson Jayden. Memorial Mass will be Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Dean E. Russell officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of Mass in the church. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
