Gerald A. Pernot, 83, Rockford, died at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI.  Born August 12, 1925 in Taylorville, IL, son of Alfred and Sara Cole Pernot.  Married Bette J. Greenberg in Rockford on August 21, 1948.  Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps.  He was employed as a machine assembler and service engineer for Barnes Drill Co, W.F. & John Barnes and retired from NATCO of Richmond, IN.  Member of Third Presbyterian Church.  Also a member of Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge No.173, Freeport Consistory Scottish Rites, Moose Lodge No.295 and the YMCA Retired Mens Club.    Survivors include his wife, Bette; son, Gregory S. (Joanne) Pernot; daughter Renee (Neil) Hoxie and granddaughters, Sara Hoxie, Emily Hoxie, Elizabeth (Anthony) Janowski and Nicole Pernot.  Predeceased by his parents, infant sister and brother, Rene Pernot.   Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2009 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Dr. Murray Hanson officiating.  A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Third Presbyterian Church or the YMCA Retired Mens Club.  Condolences or remembrances may be sent at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
