Geraldine (Gerry) M. Breit, 90, Rockford, died Monday, April 16, 2012.nbsp; She was born July 2, 1921 in Byron, the daughter of Robert G. and Iva Slagle Case.nbsp; She attended Whitaker Grade School and graduated from Byron High School.nbsp; She played in the Byron High School band and orchestra.nbsp; Enjoyed music throughout her life.nbsp; Attended the University of Illinois, Dickinson Secretarial School and Rock Valley College.nbsp; She worked in Rockford in the Engineering Dept. at Sundstrand Machine Tool and Woodward Governor Co.nbsp; She also worked in the Engineering Department at Douglas Aircraft in California and for the Government War Assets Division in San Francisco.nbsp; She lived there when the United Nations Charter was written at the San Francisco War Memorial Hall.nbsp; She attended as an Information Director for the UN Conference and saw President Harry Truman,nbsp; President de Gaulle of France and Attlee from England when they attended.nbsp; She retired after working 15 years at H.A. Schlatter, Inc.nbsp; While living in Rockford, Los Angeles and San Francisco, she could always be found attending the operas, symphonies and park concerts.nbsp; Member of Mendelssohn Club, Rock Valley Colleges Center for Learning in Retirement, Word Weavers, Southeast Senior Center and Byron Alumni Club.
Gerry is survived by 2 sons in Rockford, James (Leslie) Breit and Larry (Kathie) Breit; 13 grandchildren, Nickolas, Benjamin, Daniel, Zachary, Emily, David, Jonathan, Kayla, Michael, Nathaniel, Kaitlin, Molly, Melanie; sistersinlaw, Doris I. Case and Helen Blue of Byron, and many nieces and nephews.nbsp; Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Robert D. Case and Slagle H. Case and sister, Maude Case.
