Glen E. Ricker

May 2, 1944 — January 29, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Glen E. Ricker, announces his passing into eternal life on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford at the age of 73.

Glen was born May 2, 1944 in Rockwood, Tennessee to James and Dorothy Lamb Ricker. He was formerly married to Jeanne Halverson in 1966 and they built a home in Sycamore. Glen later married Kristin Baisch in 1998. He worked as a teamster truck driver with Curran Contracting for 35 years displaying a tremendous work ethic and a love for his job. Glen was full of life, loved to talk, and being the jokester that he was, made everyone laugh that he came in contact with. He and Kristin enjoyed their show cars and many car shows, traveling as far as Tennessee to participate. Glen was very proud of his cars, always wrenching on them, making sure they were spotless and was grateful for all the trophies he had won. He was a member of several area car clubs. Glen truly loved life to the fullest extent through simple pleasures; chatting with family and friends, walking in the mall, going to car shows and spending time with his four grandchildren. Glen had an uncanny ability to reach people through joking with them and making them laugh.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 18 years, Kristin, his mother, Dorothy Ricker, brother, Pete Ricker, son, Jeff (Kristy) Ricker, daughter, Jacque (John) Bridge, grandchildren, Austin and Baylee Ricker and Ryan and Jordan Bridge.

Predeceased by his father, James Ricker, sisters, Rita Beasley and Evelyn Cooley, and Kristin’s parents, Joe and Carole Baisch.

Family , friends and others whose lives he touched are invited to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. from 2-5 P.M. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 to reminisce, support one another, grieve, and of course, chat and laugh. We will gather again on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate his life with Pastor Dan Hernandez officiating. A visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Monday. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
