Obituary of Glenn Harold Peebles II

Glenn H. Peebles II passed away peacefully on January 21 st , 2012 at Highview in the Woodlands, Rockton, IL, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 27, 1931 in Evanston, IL, the son of Glenn and Elizabeth Peebles. He graduated from Evanston High School where he starred on the basketball team. After graduation he attended Coe College in Iowa, and then joined the US Army, where he served as an MP.
Following his military service, he lived in Chicago and worked as a salesman for a number of companies, including Olivetti Typewriter and Edison Voicewriter. He met Josephine Tylinski in 1963, and they married on July 3 rd , 1966, in Toledo, Ohio.
Glenn and Josie moved to Rockford in 1967 where he got into the restaurant business. He later worked for a number of years for Arrow Courier Service as a sales representative and driver, from which he retired in 2002.


Glenn was a fun loving man, who liked reading, watching sports, listening to Big Band Jazz music, dancing, playing golf, grilling outside, traveling and spending time with his family.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife Josie, son Glenn III (Alejandra), and daughters Sandra Larson (James) and Jennifer, brother James B. Peebles (Priscilla), grandchildren Patrick and Thomas Peebles, Erik Larson, nieces Bonnie Smith (Danell) and Katherine Vernier of Toledo, OH, sisterinlaw Doris Tylinski and her family in Toledo, OH,
Jimmy Peebles Jr. and his family in Spring, TX, and Karen Keefe and her family in Newtonville, MA, as well as special family friend and brother in soul Fred Schoberth of Sparta, WI. Predeceased by his parents, as well as uncle James Billingslea and aunt Dorthy Billingslea, and Virginia Meglin.

The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care provided over the past couple of years
by Briteside Day Center, Swedish American Home Healthcare, the Staff at P.A. Peterson Center for Health and the Rockford and Madison, WI Veterans Administration Clinics, and most recently by the Staff at Highview in the Woodlands, including Dr. Niccole Ranz, and the Beloit Regional Hospice.

Glenns wishes were for a family and friends gathering to celebrate his life, which will be held at a later date around the time of his birthday.
