Grace Irene Henne

Grace ""Irene"" Henne, 80, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2007. Irene had been a resident of Rockford for 61 years. She was born June 2, 1927 in Woodbury, Kentucky the daughter of Carlie Johnson and Enly (Lindsey). Irene married William Scott on January 15, 1945 and later married Bernie Henne on March 15, 1963. Irene was a homemaker, foster parent and caregiver. She was known for her banana bread, home-made sugar cookies and home-made jelly. Irene was a member of First Assembly of God where she served as a greeter for 19 years and taught Sunday School for 30 years. She will be remembered for her faith in God, her love for family, her gentle spirit and sweet smile. Irene is survived by her children, Trudy (Herb) Waterson, Judy (Ken) Grams, Diana (Roger) Shrum, Janet (Rick) Fortson, Jeffrey (Nancy) Henne and Larry (Pat) Sparks; her foster-daughter, Tina (Timo) Nunez; her grandchildren, Brian (Kimberly) Waterson, Julie (Scott) Zowaski, Rhonda (Dan) Martin, John (Deanna) Grams, Tiane (Mike) Gee, Craig (Tracy) Shrum, Todd (Chastidy) Shrum, Lisa (Rodney) Frederick, Christy Duncan, Randy (Andi) Fortson, Amy (Gene) Larrabee, Paul (Elaine) Cornn, Sam (Amanda) Cornn, Bridget Sparks, Colleen (Ron) Dufoe and Gretchen Sparks; 42 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters and one brother. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and her grand-daughter, Paula Shrum. Funeral services for Irene will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at First Assembly of God, 5950 Spring Creek Rd. with Rev. Bob Taylor and Rev. Ray Corlew officiating, followed by burial in Willwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 PM 8 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and on Thursday from 10 AM 10:45 AM at First Assembly of God. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
