Gus A. Guagliardo Gage, 84, Rockford, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 in his home.nbsp; Born March 3, 1927 in Rockford, son of Vincent and Margaret Guagliardo.nbsp; Graduated from West High School in 1945 and attended Lake Forest College.nbsp; Veteran of the U.S. Army. nbsp;Married Verona Ronni M. Klemp on July 3, 1948.nbsp; He was a real estate broker for various agencies in the Rockford area for 44 years and was a member of the Rockford Board of Review.nbsp; Gus was a very social, outgoing, generous man who was always willing to help others. He loved to play golf, bowl, fish, and gamble.nbsp; He enjoyed playing cards and had played for many years with the same group of friends.nbsp; Gus was a great gardener and often grew wonderful, record- breaking sized vegetables.nbsp;
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Ronni; daughter, Karen (his best friend,William Bill) Spencer; grandson, Ross (Erin) Spencer; granddaughter, Blair Spencer; great-granddaughters, Maggie and Fiona Spencer; brother, Father Salvatore Guagliardo; sisters-in-law, Anne Guagliardo, Mary Guagliardo, Margaret (Dave) Warren; brother-in-law, Paul (Sandy) Klemp; numerous nieces and nephews and his special granddog buddy, Sammy. Predeceased by his parents and brothers, Tony, Joe (Margaret), Frank (Mary), Nick and Phillip.The family would like to thank the staff of OSF St. Anthony Hospice, especially Marilyn and Michelle, and the staff of NIAAA.nbsp;
Visitation from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. followed by a memorial celebration in the chapel of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center at 4:15 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
