Gust A. Johnson (80) of Rockford, IL peacefully passed on Thursday Oct 25 at 1:00 PM with his beloved wife Jo at his side. Gust was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Iron Mountain MI., to Gust L. and Christine Johnson. Gust served in the Airforce before marrying Joann Johnson of Fence ,WI , on Feb 13th 1954. Shortly after, they moved to Rockford IL. to start a family. He worked as a mason until 1970 when he started his own company Gust A Johnson Masonry. Gusts life revolved around his family, his work, and his yard. He was an artist as both a stone mason and landscaper. Gust was predeceased by his daughter Kim Elizabeth, grandson Nick Jefferies, brothers Bruce (Faye) Johnson, and James Johnson, half sister Genevieve Vradenberg, brother inlaw Wallace Swanson, and sister inlaws Hazel, and Marilyn Johnson. Gust is survived by his wife Joann (Jo) Johnson, his son Glen Johnson (Prem Pahwa) Chicago, daughter Sheri (Steve) Jefferies, Cherry Valley, son Gust L. Johnson Rockford, and granddaughter Crystal (Jeff ) Venable of Rockford, IL. Sister Lois Swanson, Iron Mountain Mi, sister inlaw Kathleen (Pete) Witynski , brothers inlaw Wally , and Roy Johnson. As well as Brenda (Kevin) Stauffer, and many nieces, and nephews. The family extends their Love amp; Gratitude to his care givers Dagva Nanzaa and Danuta Trzaska . Visitation will be from 9:3011:00 AM, Friday, November 2nbsp;at which time the Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. at St Marks Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd. Rockford, with Rev. Donald Lavelle officiating. . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, or St. Marks Lutheran Church.
