Helen C. Rager

Helen C. Rager, 90, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

Helen was born in Rockford on May 6, 1929, daughter of Owen and Julia (Proska) Forbes. She graduated from Muldoon High School. Helen married Robert T. Rager in Tempe, AZ on January 25. 1947. He passed away April 27, 1975. Helen was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She loved flowers and also enjoyed knitting and sewing. Helen will be dearly missed.

Surviving relatives include her 3 children, Sherry (Butch) Sutherland, Julie Phoenix and Katie (Randy) St. John; grandchildren, Joe (Bianca) Sutherland, Sara (Alex) Haughee, Don (Erica) Phoenix, Megan (Ryan) Denk, Jeff Phoenix, Lindsey and Lauren St. John; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Rodriguez and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters and brother.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Burial will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
