Helen Mazzola

Helen Mazzola, 89 a life long resident of Rockford, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Swedish American Hospital. Born Feb. 9, 1920 the daughter of Frank and Anna Raymond. Graduate of Rockford Central High School. Married Anthony T. Mazzola on June 29, 1940, he preceded her on Sept. 29, 1999. Worked as a receptionist for Canfield Clinic and Brookside Medical Center. Helen was a member of the Womens Catholic Order of Foresters, Rockford United Labor Womens Auxiliary and St. Edwards Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, golf, swimming, music and had great appreciation for her Lithuanian heritage. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Alpine Fireside staff and Swedish American Hospitals Intensive Care Unit for all they have done. Survivors include her sons, Sam (Joyce) Mazzola, Sandy Mazzola and Craig (Dianna) Mazzola; grandchildren, Michele (Ken) Larson, Kristina (Greg) Gargani, Vanessa Mazzola, Melissa Mazzola and Anthony Tony Mazzola; great grandchildren, Ben and Lucy Gargani, Brody and Mackenzie Larson and Alexa and Myles Link. Preceded in death by her parents and her husband. At the familys request all services are private.
