Herman J. Sorg

Herman J. Sorg, 81, Rockton, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, in his home after a long illness. He was born on April 10, 1932 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of George and Mary (Thennes) Sorg. Herman married Wanda Cagle on September 20, 1952, in Pocahontas. She passed away on November 7, 1995. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in South Beloit. Herman worked for the Sems Division of CamCar Textron for 30 years retiring in 1992. He loved playing his fiddle, guitar, and farming. Herman was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by his five children, Gary (Bev) Sorg of Rockton, David Sorg of Beloit, Wisconsin, Janice (Dennis) Buerkle of Rockton, Teresa (Brent) Sugden of Argenta, and Lanette (Joe) Childers of Rockton; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond (Bessie) Sorg and Ernest Sorg and his sister, Mary Ann Swann, all of Pocahontas, and his brother, Matt (Betty) Sorg of Durand; his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Paul) Jansen of Rockford; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Wanda, his parents and many brothers and sisters. Herman will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. Visitation from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 S.
