James J. Villani

James J. Villani, 81, of Springfield passed away Friday June 8, 2012 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. He was born January 8, 1931 in Rockford, the son of Anthony and Anna (DGerolamo) Villani. He married Clara Bongey in Milwaukee on May 21, 1955. He worked for Barber Coleman for many years, retiring in 1998. After his retirement, he and Clara moved to Springfield. Member of St. Anthony Church. He was also Chairman of the Deaf Senior Citizen Organization in Springfield. He was an avid bowler, woodworker and toy car collector. James was an allstar athlete in ISD High School. Survivors include his wife, Clara; children, Roma (Mark) Hailman, Tony Villani and Ann (Andrea Simeone) Villani; grandchildren, Cody and Marissa Villani. Predeceased by his parents and daughterinlaw, Roberta Ritter. Funeral Mass at 10:00am Thursday, June 14, 2012 in St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 4pm until 7pm Wednesday, June 13 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a rosary recited at 7pm. Visitation also from 9am until 9:45am Thursday in the church.
