Jan Stanislau Gawronski

Jan Stanislau Gawronski, 65, of Rockford, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013, in his home.nbsp; Jan was born in Poland on July 11, 1947, the son of Stanislau and Maria Gawronski.nbsp; He served in the Polish Army. Jan came to the United States from Poland in 1980. He married Janina Banasiewicz.nbsp; She passed away on March 12, 2008.nbsp; He was a maintenance engineer at Valspar for 28 years. Jan was a member of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church.nbsp; He enjoyed playing soccer as well as fishing and hunting.nbsp; Jan was very active at church, especially helping at Polish Fest.nbsp; He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed working on cars.nbsp; Jan traveled to many places including Europe and all over the United States.nbsp;

Jan is survived by his sons, Remigiusz (Remi) and Darek (Jenna) Gawronski, both of Rockford; granddaughter, Mikali Gawronski and 2 sisters in Poland.nbsp; Predeceased by his wife, Janina.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, nbsp;at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church, 201 Buckbee St. with Father Darek Barna officiating.nbsp; Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rosary recited at 7:30pm and will continue at church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.nbsp; Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
