Jean M. Haefele

Jean M. Haefele, 71, of Rockford, Illinois passed away Friday, October 8, 2021. She was born March 20, 1950 in Antigo, Wisconsin the daughter to Kenneth and Eleanor (Farrell) Kelly. Jean attended Mesmer High School in Milwaukee, WI graduating in 1968. Jean married Rick Haefele August 26, 1978. She went on to obtain her nursing degree for Cardinal Stritch University. She worked at various places as a registered nurse, most recently at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Jean’s passion was caring for others especially in cardiac care. Along with her caring nature Jean was described as “tough as nails”. She was fun loving and enjoyed skiing and playing the piano. When her sons were young Jean was active as a Cub and Boy Scout leader. Jean will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Jean is survived by her husband, Rick Haefele; her sons, Eric (Tiffany) Haefele and Taylor (Darien Wells) Haefele; grandson, Jude Haefele; brother, Michael (Mary Jo) Kelly; sister in law, Patricia Fitzwater; brother in law, Robert (Kathleen) Haefele; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and brother in law, Charles Fitzwater. The family would like to thank the staff at Northwoods Care Center and Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Dr. Herb Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
