Jeffrey I. Cyrus

Jeffrey I. Cyrus, 54, of Davis, IL, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2008. Jeff was born June 24, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota the son of Gordon A. and Marian R. (Perry) Cyrus. Jeff met Colleen Flynn while attending school in Michigan and married Colleen on May 17, 1975 in Munising, Michigan. Jeff served in the US Navy from 1973 1979 and the US Army National Guard in Wyoming from 1984 1988. Jeff was very dedicated to his work and the children he helped. He was a juvenile probation officer for Winnebago County in 1989, worked for Harlem High School from 1990 1991, a Student Support Specialist with Lathrop School in Rockford from 1992 1996, a Special Ed. Teacher at Durand High School from 1996 2004 also serving as their wrestling coach and the Athletic Director from 2002 2004, and has been with the Fresh Start/Fresh View Program since 2004 having served as Principal for the last two years. After his love for his family, Jeffs passions included wrestling, motorcycling, hiking, rock climbing, reading, history, and the Minnesota Twins. Jeff is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children, Cherice (Loren) Fuller, Heather Cyrus and John (Nichole Irizarry) Cyrus; his grandchildren, Cole and Kahlan Fuller and Hope Irizarry; his parents, Gordon and Marian Cyrus; his sister, Leslie Kaye; his brothers, Larry (Joy Hittner) Cyrus, Dennis (Julie) Cyrus and Kim Cyrus and his sister-in-law, Judi Cyrus. Jeff was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Esther Flynn, and his brother Gene Cyrus. Memorial services for Jeff will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural Street, with Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2008 from 3:30 P.M. 7:30 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and on Monday from 10 A.M until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jeff Cyrus Memorial Fund, c/o Associated Bank, 612 N.
