Jewel Carol Crawford, 74, Stillman Valley, formerly of Machesney Park, peacefully went home to the Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2013 following a short illness. She was born in Rockford on November 8, 1938; the daughter of Henry and Evlyn (Divan) Anderson.She lived her entire life in the Rockford area, moving to Stillman Valley in 2012. She was a kind and generous person and a fantastic cook. Her family was her pride and joy and she loved spending time with the "little ones." She loved children and babysat for numerous families. Jewel was known for her talents in the kitchen and spent her life working at various restaurants, the last 17 years at Docs Diner in Machesney Park before her retirement in April of 2012. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved playing bingo. Survivors include her sons, Wade (Beth) Crawford of Rockford and Michael (Stephanie) Crawford of Stillman Valley; grandchildren, Jerica Crawford (fianca©, Jason Howlett) of Dixon, Michael Crawford of Mt. Morris, Jordan Crawford of Beloit, WI, Alexander Crawford (fianca©, Brittney Smith) of Stillman Valley, MacKenzie Richards of Machesney Park and Eric and Hannah Seaworth of Stillman Valley; greatgranddaughter, Shelby Howlett of Dixon; aunt, Lavonne Mussey of Rockford and faithful companion, her dog, Lady. Predeceased by her parents and infant sister, Karen.Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave. Visitation from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Visitation also from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday at Church. Special thanks to Dr.s McCarthy, Altaya and Nora and to nurses Amy and Julie; CNAs Jada and Bree and social worker Karen of VNA Hospice as well as all family and friends for their prayers, visits and support. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice.
