Jim Joseph Maurer, Sr.

Jim Joseph Maurer, Sr., 73, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017, in his home. He was born July 5, 1944, in Chicago, the son of Jim and Bea O’Malley. Jim married Rose Adams on October 5, 1974, in Chicago. Jim was a union carpenter for Local 13 in Chicago. He attended St. Bridget Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; his son, Jim Joseph (Bonnie Essner) Maurer, Jr. of Evanston; his grandchildren, Bennett and Caden Maurer; his brother, Jack (Phyllis) Maurer of Burbank; his sister, Maureen O’Brien of Coloma, MI; his brother. Tim Flynn of Machesney Park; his sister-in-law, Viola Maurer of Chicago Ridge. Predeceased by his brother, Tom Maurer.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, with Father Ryan B. Browning officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30am until time of Mass Saturday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford.
