Rockford—Joan “Jonie” P. Zanocco, 63 of Rockford died Wednesday June 30, 2015 at home with her family near her side. Born July, 21, 1951 in Freeport, Illinois to Romaine and Helen (Untersee) Dietmeier. Moved to Lancaster, Wisconsin in 1959 after living in Chadwick and Sterling, Illinois as well as Monroe, Wisconsin. Attended St. Clement Elementary School prior to Lancaster High School, where she graduated in 1969. Graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Radiologic Technology in 1971. Started working at SwedishAmerican Hospital Cardiac Cath Lab and Special Procedures Department in 1971. Jonie married John on October 13, 1979. Jonie returned to her Cath Lab staff in 2002 after raising her two beautiful daughters. Jonie was extremely proud of her Swiss and German ancestry, as well as her alumni status with the University of Wisconsin Badgers. Everyone Jonie met became a lifelong friend, and her love and passion for life shone through in her volunteer work and her devotion to bettering the Rockford community.
Survivors; Husband, John; daughters, Jaime (Tyler) Fagan and Megan Zanocco; Granddaughters Gianna and Addie Fagan; Sister, Claudia (Dave) Baus. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Helen and Romaine Dietmeier
Memorial Mass 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Cathedral of St. Peter 1243 N. Church Street. Very Reverend Stephen St. Jules officiating. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2015 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory (Mulford Chapel). 1860 S. Mulford Road. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at church from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Memorials may be made to the family for an establishment to be named at a later date.
