Joan P. Justice

Joan P. Justice, 72, Loves Park, died Wednesday, July 13, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born May 15, 1950 in Rockford, daughter of Donald E. and Alma Acheson Young. Graduated from West High School in 1968 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. While in the military, she met the love of her life who would become her husband for the next 50 years. Joan and Luther Cecil Justice were married on September 25, 1971.

Joan was a little, red headed spitfire with a very witty personality and a contagious laugh. Her hobbies included camping and a love for wood working and the smell of sawdust. Her family was always her main focus and nothing was ever more important to her.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil; daughters, Cecilia (Mark) Fowler and Jill Dryfhout; grandchildren, Mark “Sonny” Fowler, Jr. and Justice Fowler, Zack Dryfhout and Kyle Dryfhout and brother John A. (Vita) Young. Predeceased by her parents.

Graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Rockton Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the March of Dimes. The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel.
