Joann Wallis

Joann Wallis, 78 a lifelong resident of Rockford, died after a brief illness on February 7, 2013 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born February 24, 1934 the daughter of Dubois and Victoria Berridge. She married her loving husband Waymon Wallis in 1955 and worked for many years at the Faust Hotel and the Clock Tower Resort. nbsp;She was a faithful member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild and the Seniors Club. Joann also took time to enjoy exploring the menus of various new restaurants in Rockford, was an avid reader and an extensive traveler. She most enjoyed her family and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and prosper, she will be missed greatly by all.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the Drs, nurses and staff at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for the warm and wonderful care they gave to Joann and her family. Survivors include her children, Denise (Gary) McElyea, Waymon K. (Sandy) Wallis, Victor (Elisa) Wallis, Matthew and Mark Wallis; nine grandchildren, Amy (Joel) Helm, Karen (Jose) Lara, Maggie Wallis, Nikki (Andrew) Wallis, Rebecca (Shams) Afzal, Tiffany (Travis) WallisOwens, Sarah (Dave) Hamblin, Esperansa Marie (Kyle) Wallis and Stephen A. Espinoza; 17 great grandchildren;
sister, June Smeltzer; brothers, Richard Bonwell and Edward Berridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Diane T. Guldin; sisters, Betty Enna and Pat Nordmoe; brothers, Edward
Bonwell, Jimmy Bonwell and infant brother, Bobby Bonwell.

Funeral Mass Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. Edward Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10 from 13 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and will continue on Monday at church from 9 a.m. until time of prayer at 9:45 a.m. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 2 p.m. on Monday. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
