John A. Bunk

John A. Bunk, 74, of Rockford, Illinois passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019. He was born March 12, 1944 in Rockford, the son of Glennie (Newkirk) and Joseph Bunk. He attended St. Patrick School and graduated from St. Thomas High School, class of 1962. John married the love of his life, Judith Jobe on February 12, 1982. He worked as an assembler at Bartelt Engineering and retired as an electrician from Anderson Packaging. John enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports. Most of all, he loved the time he spent with family. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
Survived by his beloved wife, Judith; sister, Veronica Gayle; brothers-in-law Jeffrey (Tamara) Jobe and Jarrig Visser; sisters-in-law, Patricia Bunk, Glenda Bunk, Sylvia (Frank) Kerzich, and Geraldine Bunk; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by his parents; step son, Lane Allen Bloyd; brothers, Leonard Bunk, Dennis Bunk and David Bunk; sister, Reva (Chuck) Riley; sister-in-law Judy Jobe; brother-in-law Ted Jobe. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital and Amberwood Care Center for their compassion and care.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave, Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Inurnment at Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
