Loving Husband, dad amp; Opi

Rockford John A. Davidson, 85, passed away with his loving family by his bedside Sunday, April 29, 2012 in Alden Debes of Bone Cancer. Born June 12, 1926 in Iowa, son Lucille and Marland Davidson. Graduated from Rock Island High School, Rock Island, Il. Married Eleonore Lore Rahn on December 6, 1958 in Rock Island, Il. John, alongside his wife, successfully owned and operated Cash Register Sales and Service on School St. for 54 years. He was often called The Cash Register Man. He was also warmly known as the man with the eyebrows. During that time, he belonged to the Northwest Businessman Association. He and his wife retired in 1992. He belonged to a couple of car clubs: Rockford Early Ford V8 Club and Five Point/DragOns. nbsp;He custom restored a 1931 Model A Ford Roadster Deluxe with a license plate that read DADZTOY. He loved driving it to many of the gatherings for these clubs. John and Lore were always eager to be a part of their grandkids events. He was affectionately known as Opi by many of their friends. John will always be remembered for his uncanny sense of humor and spontaneous quick wit. With perfect timing he would never miss a moment or opportunity to get a laugh. John is lovingly survived by wife of 53 years Lore; daughter, Heidi (George) Gonzalez, and son Wolfgang (Lucy) Pietsch of Texas. Adoring grandchildren, Adam Gonzalez and Amy Gonzalez. Brother Earl Dee (Bev) Davidson of Moline, Il and brotherinlaw Harold (Elaine) Hamilton of MN. Numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends too numerous to mention. The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Troutman for his wonderful and kind attention to Johns comfort. Also a special Thank You to Dan, Christine, Beth, Megan, Anna, Megan and many others for all the loving special care they gave to John during his stay at Alden Debes (400 wing).

Predeceased by his parents, sister, Erma Engstrom and Charlotte Hamilton.Sisterinlaw Nora Davidson and brotherinlaw Ralph Engstrom. Special high school buddies, Don Griffith and Jack Hoff.

Memorial Gathering Friday, May 4, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m.
at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory (Mulford Chapel) 1860 S. Mulford Road.
