John C. Walling

John C. Walling, 78, of Rockford, passed away February 12, 2020 in his home. Born March 18, 1941 in Woodlawn, IL, the son of Harold Walling & Julia Florence Nichols. Married Kathleen Gallo on April 22, 1961 in Cherry Valley, IL. John was a furnace assembler for many years, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and being outdoors doing yard work.
He is survived by children, Lori Rother, Vicki (Chuck) Kowalewski and Matthew (Teresa) Walling; grandchildren, Jessica, Bradley, Jeffrey, Joshaua, Ashley, Breanna, Evan and Mitchel; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Payton, Mason, Alexsya, Colten, Baylee and Isabella; sisters Sharon (Tom) Long and Frances Etter; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife, parents, brother Richard, Stepfather Fred Tinsley and half-sister Carol Archuleta.
The family will receive friends and family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108.
