John Bud Carlberg, 91, Leaf River
John Bud Carlberg, 91, of Leaf River passed away Friday, October 5, 2012
at Neighbors Rehabilitation Center in Byron. Born August 18, 1921 in Rockford,
son of Einar and Victoria Carlberg. Lived in Rockford for many years prior to moving
to Albuquerque, NM where he was employed by the local gas company until his retirement.
He then relocated to Leaf River where he has lived for the past 25 years.
Bud enjoyed bowling, his home, working around his property and caring for his many
pets over his lifetime. He was a gentle soul, well liked by family, friends and coworkers and
he was always there to help a neighbor in need. He was the ultimate animal lover and many
a stray dog were fortunate to find refuge in his loving care.
Survivors include sister Carin (William) Belt of Winnebago; nieces Janille (Bill)
Hicks of Albuquerque, NM, Diane (Dale) Lofquist of Evergreen Park, IL, Holly
(Harold) Sweeney, Penny Johnson and JoAnn (Richard) Saunders all of Rockford;
nephews David (Barbara) Carlberg of Los Lunas, NM, Clint (Kim) Carlberg of
Rockford and Allen Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; many great nieces and nephews;
his cat Holly and his dog Rick. Predeceased by his parents, sister Caroline, brothers
Claire and Clint and great niece Tracy Scroggins. The family would like to thank the
staff at Neighbors Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care of Bud and the
assistance they offered his family members and they would also like to thank Buds
neighbors Sue and Bob for all they did for him over the years.
Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service; Pastor Gregory Carlson will officiate. Memorials may be made to Noahs Arknbsp; Animal Shelter.
