March 18, 1944 — August 26, 2021

John E. Scheub, 77, passed away peacefully at Wesley Willows Health Care Center on August 26, 2021.

John was born on March 18, 1944 to John and Charlotte (Jeffers) Scheub in Grand Rapids, Ohio. He attended school in Grand Rapids, Ohio and graduated Salutatorian of his class in 1962. John attended Harvard College, receiving a B.A. cum laude in Government in 1968. He earned his Medical Degree with honors from the University of Cincinnati and interned at University Hospitals of Cleveland. John then went on to Flight Surgeon training at Brook Air Force USAF Medical Center. He served almost 12 years in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1978. John then moved to Rockford, IL where he joined Rockford Anesthesiologists and worked as an anesthesiologist for 29 years. He especially loved his time at Swedish American Hospital where he served on many boards and committees.

John married his wife, Teena in 1964 and they have 3 children, John David (Kim) Scheub, Rebecca Orsini (Tr'e Ham) and Daniel Scheub (Amy Nelson). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Rachel Scheub, Madeline Scheub, Victor Macias, John Macias and Vivian Orsini as well as 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Joe (Karen) Scheub, Jim (Deb) Scheub, Nelson (Theresa) Scheub and 2 sisters, Sharon Raske and Anna Banachowski.

John was a gifted and intelligent person who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him and were part of his life. The medical community was so much a part of his life and therefore it was important to him to dedicate his body to medical science, so others may learn as he did.
