Rockford - John F. Thomas, 86 of Rockford died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at St. Annes Center. Born August 4, 1925 in Peoria, IL to Elmer E. and Lillian B. (Behrens) Thomas. Moved to Rockford in 1967 from Sterling, IL. Married Mary C. (Davy) in Berwyn, IL on June 27, 1953 in St. Leonards Church. John was an Electrical Engineer for Com Ed retiring in 1986 after 37 years.
He served in the United States Army from 19431946 in the Signal Corp during WWII, Okinawa and the Army of Korean Occupation. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church and past board member.
Also a member of Kiwanis Club.

Survivors; Wife, Mary; Children, Patrick A. Thomas, Karen M. Hubbard and Susan M. Thomas; granddaughter, Jorie R. Thomas; greatgrandsons, Raiden, Tristen and Koden; Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and son James R. Thomas in childhood and brother Robert Thomas. Special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center and the Staff at St. Annes Center.

Funeral Mass 10 am Monday October 10, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church 4401 Highcrest Road with Msgr. David Kagan officiating. Visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory (Mulford Chapel) 1860 S. Mulford Road. Burial of Cremated Remains in Calvary Cemetery, Sterling, IL on Tuesday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kiwanis Club c/o Kurt Heinrich 8403 Hickory Tree Drive Machesney Park, ILnbsp; 61115.
