Joseph Distefano

Joseph Distefano, 91 of Rockford, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born November 21, 1917 in Independence, LA, the son of Frank and Frances (Piazza) Distefano. Served in the United States Army during WWII.  Married to the late Frances Pipitone whom preceded him in October of 1983. Worked for Rockford Clutch as an assembler until his retirement in 1982. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, The Eagles Club and The Moose Lodge. Survivors include his children; Steven (Linda) Distefano and Lenora (Daniel) Enfinger; grandchildren, Christina (James) Gustafson and Steven (Christine Colombi) Distefano; great grandchildren, Lauryn (Corey) Wall, Taylor, Cody, Chace, Cole, Joey and MaKenzie. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances; brothers, Frank, Morris, Tony and Roy and sisters, Lena Mandera, Theresa Calato and Mary Scarpetta.   Funeral service Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Matthew T. Rudden officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation Thursday in the funeral home from 9:30 until time of service. Memorials may be made to the family.
