Joseph M. Gile

Joseph Michael Gile, 67, passed away after a lengthy illness Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. He was born November 29, 1953, in Rockford, IL, the son of Clifford C. Gile and Ruth M. (Christian) Gile. Joseph graduated from Rockford West High School, class of 1972. He was a member of Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Service Technicians Local 23, UAW, for 42 years, working in refrigeration, HVAC, and pipefitting until retiring in 2010. He enjoyed sports, playing several years with teams in the Elite Eight Softball League and bowling with the Ricotta Automotive Bowling Team. Joseph was a motorcycle and Corvette enthusiast, an astronomy buff, and a lifelong Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.
He was predeceased by his parents. Surviving are his sister, Patricia Bartz, Burlington, WI; sister, Shirley (Grant) Drummond; brother, John (Renie) Gile; sister, Donna (Larry) Paladino, all of Rockford, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private graveside service. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory.
