Josephine Marie LaFasto, 94,Loving Wife, Beloved mom, Rockford, departed her life at 8:55 a.m. October 30, 2011 at Provena Cor Mariae. Born August 10, 1917 in Rockford; the daughter of Lorenzo and Josephine Buttice.nbsp;nbsp; A lifelong resident of Rockford.
Married Samuel A. LaFasto on June 16, 1940 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church.
Attended St. Anthonys School and Bishop Muldoon High School.
Josephine was self employed with her husband Samuel in the grocery and meat business for 25 years.
She was also employed ten years at Allens China and Gift Store as the buyer and Assistant Manager before retiring.
She cherished time spent with her husband, especially fishing, traveling, and taking long walks.nbsp;nbsp; A classical music lover, with a special fondness for Chopin, avid reader, particularly enjoyed twentieth century writers.
Member of St. Anne Society ( St.Peter Cathedral), Aragona Ladies Auxiliary, and the National Catholic Society of Foresters (St. Anthony Ct. 674), Cathedral of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Survivors include; nbsp;son, Gene (Kim) La Fasto of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Camille Linda West of Rockford ; four grandsons, Derek (Kristi), Geno, Brock, and Saxton LaFasto, of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Bess (Walt) Valenti, Angela Ciulla, and Lillian(Emil) Borgetti, all of Rockford;
four sistersinlaw, Mary Stephenson, Sue Sabbe, Phyllis ( Joe) Montalbano, and Lillian LaFasto, all of Rockford; numerous nieces and nephews, greatnieces and nephews, and cousins as well as numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parentsinlaw, Angelo and Carmella LaFasto; husband, Sam; one sister, Ann Merlo; four brothersinlaw, Frank LaFasto, Joseph Ciulla, Augie Sabbe and Ray LaFasto; one sisterinlaw, Jo LaFasto. No visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. November 3, 2011 in the Cathedral of St. Peter Catholic Church. Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel,nbsp;3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford. Memorials to St. Peter Cathedral.
