Rockford Joy E. Branney, 72 of Rockford died January 1, 2009 at 2:15 p.m. at Swedish American Hospital surrounded by her family. Born December 27, 1936 to Richard and Catherine (Miller) Carey. Worked many years at Burger King and retired from Swedish American Hospital in 2001. Joy was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and QVC shopper. She was also a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
Survivors include; daughter; Cathy (Jon) Cope, Sons; Don, Terry (Denise), Tim (Diana), sister; Joan Gaines. Grandchildren; Sara Branney, Andy (Yuri) Christianson, Aaron (Whitney) Christianson, Stacy (Nick) McClintock, Elizabeth Branney, Terrance Branney, Amanda Branney, Shaun Branney. Step-grandchildren Chelsea (Andy) Schroeder and Sydney Cope. Great-grandchildren (her little rascals Samantha Tober, Makenzie McClintock, Liam Branney, Emily McClintock and step great-grandchild Maddylyne Cope. Predeceased by parents, former husband; Owen (Tiny) Branney sisters Mary Meehan andBeverly Roose; brothers Richard Carey and Charles Carey. A special thank you to the doctors, ICU nurses, and respiratory therapists at Swedish American Hospital .
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at St. Edward Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery . Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday January 5, 2009 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home (Mulford Chapel) 1860 S. Mulford Road . Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. until 9
