Joyce M. Raines

Joyce M. Raines, 80, Rockford, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022. She was born on July 21, 1941, in Sandwich, the daughter of William and Ila (Coppes) Boreman. Joyce was a graduate of Plano High School and later graduated from the Copley Hospital nursing program in Aurora. She married Robert Raines, Sr. in Plano on February 16, 1964. After graduation from nursing school Joyce worked as a nurse on the OB department at Sandwich Community Hospital. After raising her family Joyce continued her career as a Registered Nurse at River Bluff Nursing Home where she worked for 18 years until her retirement. Her passion in life was being a caregiver for others. She enjoyed counted cross stitch, wood crafting, cooking, crocheting and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert; her children, Robert Raines, Jr., Crystal Raines and Deborah (Jeff) Girotti; her grandchildren, Chelsea, Brandon, and Wiley; her brothers, Donald (Ann) Borneman and Harold “Bud” (Laurie) Borneman, and her sister-in-law, Brenda Borneman; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and brother, Arthur Borneman.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford.
