Judith “Judy” Helen Stemwedel, 84, Rockford, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023. She was born July 3, 1939, in Rockford, the daughter of Chance and Anne (Molander) Knott. Judy married Edward Stemwedel in Rockford in 1969. She taught school in Rockford at Whig Hill, Highland and Thompson grade schools. Judy volunteered as a docent at the Rockford Midway Museum and also volunteered in the Rockford Park District. She enjoyed playing Bridge, attending flea markets with Ed and doing arts and crafts.
Survived by her loving husband, Ed; her sons, Jim (Toni) Stemwedel of Weyauwega, WI, Bart (Barb) Johnson of Rockford and Steve (Gina) Johnson of Edgewater, FL; her grandchildren, Edward (Alicia) Stemwedel, Justin Stemwedel, Natasha Stemwedel, Mitchell (Jenni) Johnson, Matthew (Lauren) Johnson, Daniel (Katelan) Johnson, Devin (Athena) Burnup, Candace (Larry) Thomas, Thomas Burnup and Jacob Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Amaurah and Aveylah Stemwedel, Kayleigh, Hannah, Cole, and Jett Johnson, Chloe and Laurel Thomas, Hannah and Kiara Burnup.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Cremation rites have been accorded. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeeraldfh.com.
