Karlene M. Streit, 69 Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend Karlene M. Streit, 69, Rockford, died at 3:11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born August 11, 1939 in Kankakee, daughter of Karl and Marie Kilgos Vickroy. Graduated from West High School in 1958. Married Thomas E. Streit in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rockford on May 14, 1960. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also helped her church in many other capacities, including their fish frys. She was an active, dedicated volunteer at St. Bernadette School where she was known as the "School Grandma" . She loved the slot machines and enjoyed her Tuesday morning bowling and Wednesday card games at G-Pack. Karlene took care of many children through the years and always had a positive influence on them, but her family was her main focus. Surviors include her husband, Tom; daughter, Karen (Tony) Naramore; sons, Jeffrey Streit and Scott Streit, all of Rockford. Also survived by her grandchildren, Karl Streit, Michael Naramore, Andrew Streit and Matthew Naramore; special niece, Tasha (Mark) Hiltl; special friend, Jeni Haynie and her very special dog, Sophie. Predeceased by her parents, grandparents and her sister, Sharon (Bud) Craig. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2008 in St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel E. Peters officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation also from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45a.m. at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to St. Bernadette School or American Cancer Society.
