Kenneth Armour 99 of Rockford passed away Saturday December 4, 2010 in Rosewood Care Center. He was born February 6, 1911 in Stillman Valley, IL, the son of Dugald and Jennie Trumbull. He married Dorothy Froehlich in Rockford on December 14, 1935. She predeceased him on August 16, 1990. Kenneth was Self employed, working on his farm. He worked for Atlas Construction and built some homes in the area. He was a member of the Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge 173, serving as Chaplain Emeritus and also a past Master, honorary member of the Belvidere Masonic Lodge, High-Twelve 56 Chaplain and Eastern Star Worthy Pastor. President of Vandercook School board. He was involved in the South East Senior Center Group at Calvary Christian Church. He also was involved with the Lions Club. He was a charter member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Dorothy, his wife, was the love of his life. Together, they nurtured into adulthood, the children who were always the centerpiece of their joyful marriage. Jimmy returned to the Lord while still a young man but continued in the hearts of his parents until their last breath. His sisters will sustain his memory. Upon reaching adulthood, Marjorie, Dorothy, Joan and Carolyn, in turn, departed home to build new lives for themselves across the USA, but always returning whenever possible to the home on the country lane where they experienced their childhood and youth. Kenneth was a Midwest American Farmer. His labors produced the food that helped feed our country and also sustained a rural community centered lifestyle. This has almost disappeared, but provided the moral and religious foundation of the nation he loved. He enriched his life after his wife's passing by taking the risk to learn country-line dancing. This opened a window to new opportunities and friends. Every Wednesday evening, Kenny dressed and waited in great anticipation for the occasion. His four daughters, many grandchildren and countless friends across the Rockford area now know how to two-step thanks to Kenny Kenny was also proud of his Scottish heritage. In his eighties, he visited the home of his grandparents and established warm relationships with kin who cherished him and kept in close touch. He persevered as a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and endured the usual disappointment like a man. Kenneth has left a rich legacy of stories and humorous anecdotes for his family to carry on his memory. He hoped and prayed for the well being of his whole familySurvivors include his four daughters; Marjorie (Donald) Articolo of E. Hartford, CT, Dorothy (Ronald) Smitko of Newbury, OH, Joan Kapp of Sandiego, CA and Carolyn Armour of Dallas, TX. Grandchildren; Mark and Michael (Lindsey) Articolo, Eric Faber, Michelle (Reno) Reda, Kristine Faber, Amasiah (Rayanne) Copp, Michaiah Copp, Maacah (David) Rodriguez, Hana Kapp, Hoshama (Coralyn) Kapp, Naamah Dalrymple, Mithcah Kapp, Patience (Michael) Wong, Promise (Derrick Arnold) Kapp. Great grandchildren; Ava, Rachel, Christopher, Taylor, Jonathon, Joan, Lily and Ethan. Predeceased by his parents, wife, son; James Fredrick Armour and brother; Archie Armour.Funeral Service at 11am Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Friday December 10, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home Mulford Chapel with Masonic Service at 7pm. Burial in Stillman Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to be established at a later date.
