Kent J. Gesner, 40, Marietta, Georgia, former Rockford resident, went peacefully to be with the Lord at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 in his home.nbsp; Born August 3, 1969 in Rockford, son of Joette Gesner Haar and Jack C. Gesner.nbsp; Graduated from Boylan Catholic High School in 1988 and attended Rock Valley College.nbsp; While at Boylan he played soccer and received several awards for his excellent art work.nbsp; He was passionate about soccer and was a coach for Rockford United Soccer Club and Rockford Raptors.nbsp; He was also a Certified Sports Referee.nbsp; He had been employed by UPS for ten years and was presently employed by PBI Transportation Co. in dispatching. Kent was a kind and gentle man who loved his family, always paying special attention to his nieces, nephew and grandmother.

Survivors include his mother, Joette Gesner (Jerald) Haar; father, Jack (Jackie) Gesner; brothers, Ryan (Renata) Gesner, Joshua Gesner and Jamie (Nichole) Gesner; nieces and nephew, Sasha, Dylan and Makenzie Gesner; special friend, Matthew Galaviz; step-brothers, Jonathan, Daniel and Matthew; aunts and uncle, Darry (Bob) Laing, Terre (Paul) Kriege, Sue (John) Potts, Dale (Jill) Gesner, Carol Hope, and Denise (Bob) Whitworth.nbsp; Also survived by his cousins Geoffrey Laing, Kevin (DeAnna) Laing, Marcia (Karim) Bettich, Tucker, Tyler and Travis Charbonneau, Trisha DuPre, Timmy OKeefe, Jay and Scott Gesner, Bert and Jim Whitworth, Bart Steele and Tiffany West; special family friends, Steve and Darlene Jergensen, Benjamin Galaviz and Brian, Jason and Dina. nbsp;Predeceased by his grandparents and his aunt Lois Steele.

A funeral service to celebrate Kents life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Timothy Olson, Christ Lutheran Church, officiating.nbsp; Visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday.nbsp; Memorials may be made to the family.nbsp; Condolences and memories can be shared at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
