Larry L. Smith

Larry L. Smith, 73 of Rockford, died Saturday January 8, 2011. Born October 19, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa. Larry was adopted in 1942 by Carl and Ernestine Smith. He graduated from Clinton Jr. College, Clinton, IA. nbsp;and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Marilyn Martin on December 27, 1960 in Postville, IA. Larry was an optician in Rockford from 1961 until 1998. He enjoyed singing, gardening and was an active member with whatever church he joined. As Larry now dances with Jesus, his family will especially miss his artistic eye for beauty.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Jane; son, Josiah David Smith; daughter, Susannah (Jay) Chambers of Greeley, CO.; grandchildren, Zachary, Noah and Aubrey Smith, all of Rockford, Lance Corp. USMCnbsp; Jarron (Sarah) Chambers of Camp Le Jeune, N.Carolina, Alishah and Jason Chambers, Greeley, CO.

Larrys hallelujah party will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 in Johns Chapel of Wesley Willows with a luncheon to follow. Chaplain Bruce Main of Wesley Willows will officiate.

Larrys family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care he received while in the Kirk Alzheimers unit and for the spiritual care of Westminster Presbyterian.
