Larry Wayne Brown

Larry Wayne Brown, 66, Rockford, passed away December 25, 2017, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. He was born May 14, 1951, in Jonesboro, AR, the son of Robert Leon and Florence Elizabeth (Gilley) Brown. Larry married Patty Spargo in Memphis, TN on May 15, 1972. He served in the Army for 20 years retiring in 1991, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked at Mid-States Forging for a while but his true passion was electrical handyman jobs. He worked as a handyman up until his illness forced him to retire. Being an avid cook, he loved family gatherings: bar-b-ques, lobster boils, football games and just about anything that would have “us” all together. He will be sorely missed. Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patty; his daughter, Marchelle (Thomas) Johnson of Rockford; his sons, Greggory A. Brown and Anthony W. Brown, both of Rockford; his grandchildren, Emily Faith and Adian Chance Johnson; his aunt, Oquilla Gilley Rodgers of Jonesboro, AR, his sister-in-law, Evelyn Tribble Brown Crumbley Henry of Georgetown, TX; his nephews, Bill Brown of Hutto, TX and James Howard Brown of AR; his niece, Misty Dawn Brown Black of Georgetown, TX; and several cousins living in TN, Wellington, KS, IL and MI. Predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Riggs Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday January 2, 2018, at the funeral home and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Wednesday.
