Lee Virgil Clark, 75, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 following a long illness. Born July 2, 1936 in Phil Campbell, Alabama; the son if Jack and Icy Mae (Cheek) Clark. He married Marie Pia Gerardi in Rockford on June 23, 1956. Lee worked for 10 years at Inner City Box and then for Long View Fiber for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. He loved being outdoors, especially gardening, fishing, yard work, working on his tractors and growing his fruit trees. Lee also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; sons, Ernest of Schaumburg and Matthew (Elizabeth Leigh) Clark of Pecatonica; grandchildren, Katie Marie and Mitchell Nicholas Clark; sisterinlaw, Sandy Clark of Loves Park; great uncle, Waymon Cheek of Loves Park; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Alabama. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, L.J. and Jesse Clark.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th Street. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:007:00pm, with a Rosary recited at 7:00pm on Friday, March 9 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.
