Lena "Lee" J. Bertuso

Lena “Lee” J. Bertuso, 95, of Rockford, passed away on October 18, 2023. She was born on July 16, 1928, in Rockford, the daughter of Emilio and Mary (Callegari) Colusso. She graduated from Muldoon High School, class of 1946. Lee married Milo Bertuso on September 25, 1954, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She worked as an audio-visual office clerk for the Rockford Public School District. Lee was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Venetian Club. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was an avid reader. She was well known for cooking up her famous lasagna and baking her favorite Italian and fig cookies. Lee was a loving, loyal, and compassionate mom, grandma, great grandma, and friend.

She is survived by her children, John (Delores) Bertuso and MaryAnn (Alan) Bertuso-Deschaine); grandchildren, Daniel (Anri) Bertuso and Maria (James) Bruns; great grandson, Meelo Bertuso; brother-in-law, Joseph Canciamille; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, and sister, Louise Canciamille.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson Street Rockford, IL 61102. A visitation will be held prior to Mass starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Church.
