Leona Mary Bushaw

Leona Mary Bushaw, 86, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 7, 2013. Lee was born December 8, 1926 in Peoria, Il, however, spent most of her life in Rockford. She was the daughter of Anna (Bondick) and Leo Harmacinski. She graduated from Muldoon High School in 1944 and married Lawrence Bushaw on May 17, 1947. Together they raised 4 children; Janet Hamer of Winnebago, David (Mary Ann) Bushaw, Mary (John) Krueger and Laura (Hans) Bloem of Newbury, CA. Lee loved her 11 grandchildren and 5 great – grandsons; her loving husband, Larry; sisters, Dorothy Hinde and Jean (Don) Williams. She retired from Greenlee Textron in 1988. In retirement Lee pursued her dream to become more involved with her church. In 2002 she was honored as Outstanding Woman of the Year for St. Edward Parish. Lee and Larry enjoyed many years together, square dancing and traveling. Lee is preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Irene and brother, James. The family would like to give a special thank you to Comfort Keepers and to Vicki for their compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th Street with Reverend Schuessler officiating. Visitation from 9:00 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established in Lee’s name. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S.
