Liborio "Leo" Ciaccio

Beloved husband and father, Liborio “Leo” Ciaccio, 83, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, after a short illness. Born February 7, 1939, in Sambuca di Sicilia, Italy, the son of Antonino and Maria (Maggio) Ciaccio. Leo immigrated to the United States on his 30th birthday in 1969. Leo married Rose Artale on July 3, 1976. Leo worked many years for the railroad in Chicago before moving to Rockford in 1987 with his family. He worked for Rohr Manufacturing until his retirement in 2000.

Survived by his wife, Rose and son, Antonino; sisters-in-law, Maria (Bill) Mullen, Lucy Artale; brother-in-law, Joseph (Linda) Artale; nephews, Billy (Kerry) Mullen, Anthony (Alyssa) Artale; nieces, Melissa (Joe Buelow) Mullen and Susie (Ryan) Artale-Fritz. Grand nephews, Alyas Fritz and Liam Mullen; grand nieces, Isabella Fritz, Alivia Artale, and Layla Mullen.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Antonietta, father and mother-in-law Gaspare & Francesca Artale, and brother-in-law, Tony Artale.

A visitation will take place Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of rosary at 5:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. Visitation will continue the following day Friday, December 2, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102. Entombment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be equally sent to numerous organizations.
