Lillian E. Cave, 88, of Rockford, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at Swedish American Heart Hospital. Born April 22, 1923 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of Carl and Elsie (Swenson) Anderson. Married her loving husband, Richard Cave, whom preceded her in death in 1977.
Lillian worked for over 30 years at Street and Larson Law offices as a legal secretary and then worked for the Carpenters Union doing secretarial work and volunteered at St. Marks Lutheran Church. She was past president of the LEGALS of Winnebago County and took time out to enjoy playing cards, BINGO, dominoes and was an avid reader and traveled extensively.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you to her dedicated, loving caregiver, Marisa Bernachea who became part of her family. Lillian was a kind and caring mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly by all.
Survivors include her daughter, Valerie (Richard) Benson of Rockford; son, Tom (Cathaleena) Cave of Rockford; step daughter, Wannetta (Byron) Robins of Edgemont, Ark; grandchildren, Jenn Benson, Rodney Benson, Michael (Samantha) Cave; great grandchildren, Devon, Ashley, Jon, Taylor, Joshua and Montana and her precious feline companions, Angel and Mr. C. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Leonard and LeRoy Anderson and her granddaughter, Colleen Cave in 2005.
Funeral service Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd. at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Donald Lavelle officiating. Interment will be private in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be held at church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
