Lillian J. Ferraro, 82, died unexpectedly with her children by her side on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at St. Anne Center after a brief illness. Born October 6, 1928 in Rockford, daughter of Jasper and Margarite (Giovingo) Alfano and attended West High School. Married her loving husband Sam Ferraro on September 4, 1948 in Rockford at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.nbsp; Worked for 35 years at Boylan Catholic High School in the cafeteria and became a huge supporter and fan of Boylan athletics, so much so, that in 1999 she and Sam were inducted into The Friends of Basketball Hall of Fame. nbsp;A member of St. Peter Cathedral for over 56 years and belonged to the Jesus, Mary and Joseph Club, St. Annes Society, St. Mary Goodtime Club and the Verdi Club. Lil will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmothernbsp; and cook and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center nbsp;3 east for their wonderful and compassionate care. Survivors include her children, Larry Ferraro of Machesney Park, Jasper Jay (Robyn) Ferraro of Roscoe and Jo Ferraro of Rockford; grandchildren, Kristy (Scott) Neumer, Michele (Joshua) Brown, Larry Kawa, Jason (Rachel) Ferraro, Paul (Lynn) Ferraro, Rebecca Ferraro, David Mandell, Troy Ferraro, Michelle McClelland and Aaron Wang; great grandchildren, Brad, Kallie, Ethan, Brinlie, Annabella, Dominic, Brianna and Jalen; sister, Mary Mangiaricina of Tampa, FL; nieces and nephews, Rosemary, Nick Jr., Nick, Rose, Rita and Margie and special friends, Theresa, Rosie and Claudette. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam; sister, Frances Mangiaricina; brother, Frank Alfano and daughter-in-law, Kathy Ferraro.

Funeral Mass Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. atnbsp; St. Peter Cathedral , 1243 N. Church St. Interment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 4 -8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. and will continue on Monday at church from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayer at 9:45 a.m. in lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a donation to be made to Boylan Catholic High School.
