Linda L. Conner

Linda L. Conner, 74, Rockford, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Born July 15, 1938 in Chicago, daughter of Harry E. and Martha A. Timm) Veit Graduated from West High School in 1956 and attended Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Married Donald F. Conner in Redeemer Lutheran Church on January 18, 1958. She had previously been employed by Blue Cross, Greenlee Corporation and Amerock. She retired in 1982 from Sentry Drug. Member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Linda was an outgoing, fun and frankly honest person. Each day she did the crossword puzzles and cryptoquotes in the newspaper. She wrote wonderful poetry and was a caring, family oriented woman. Survivors include her daughter, Deb (Jay) Alms, Machesney Park; son, Rick (Lisa) Conner, Chantilly, VA; grandchildren, Ryan (Charlotte) Alms, Megan Alms, Kyle Alms (Alisonn Nance), Michael Conner, Stephanie (John) Plutowski, Zachary Conner and Alexis Conner; great-grandchildren Lily, Mason, Isaiah, Ava, Sydney and two more expected soon; niece, Connie Nelson and numerous cousins, including Gino Timm and Barb Muzzarelli. Predeceased by her husband on July 22, 1994, her parents, a niece and a nephew. Linda's family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Downs at the UW Medical Center in Madison, Dr. Rone and the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially her nurses, Lisa and Juliana. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Saturdy, June 1, 2013 in Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Williams officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements were completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave.
