Linnea M. Seidel, 91, Rockford, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012, in SwedishAmerican Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 21, 1921, on a farm in Winnebago County, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Lundstrom) Pearson. Linnea married Wayne Seidel in Rockford in 1946. He passed away in Rockford in 1985. She worked as an Executive Secretary for John F. Barnes until she and Wayne started their family. Linnea was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was active in many areas, including volunteering in the church office, serving on the Memorial Committee, and was a member of a womens circle. She also volunteered as an election judge for many years. Linnea enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at their Wisconsin summer home on Lake Ripley and on their pontoon boat. She especially loved her granddaughter, Emily. Special thanks to the nurses at SwedishAmerican Hospital and the Heart Center for their kind and compassionate care.Linnea is survived by her son and daughterinlaw, David and Cathy Seidel of Cherry Valley; her granddaughter, Emily; and several nieces, nephew, and cousins. Predeceased by her husband, Wayne and her 2 brothers, Herbert and Bill.Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Reverend Dr. Michael Thomas, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 am until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5 th av. Rockford, in her name.
