Louis ""Lou"" W. Bochert, 84 Rockford""Louis ""Lou"" W. Bochert, 84 of Rockford died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at home. Lou was born May 20, 1924 in New Florence, MO to Herman W. Bochert and Louise Frye. Served in the Air Force during WWII as a tail gunner on B-26 for 48 missions over Germany retiring as a staff sergeant. Married Vera Mae Wells in Polo, KS on June 11, 1946. He worked as an auto mechanic in Waterman, IL and Clinton, IA for 31 years. He then worked for Chicago Northwestern RR for 17 years. Member of the Roscoe VFW. Survivors; Wife, Vera Bochert; Daughters, Deborah (Tom Berve) Heath of Rockford, IL Diana (Lyle) Smith of Vancouver WA.; Grandchildren Cory (Connie) Recknor, Charlie Fruit, Teresa (Dave Ashmore) Recknor, Jerilynn (Marty) Lepak, Nichole Gordon.; Great-Grandchildren Jessica Hanover, Devante, Dominic and Zion Lepak, Marissa, Triston and Trey Recknor. sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary (Ted) Grzywa of Oregon, IL. Many nieces and nephews. Dear friends Don and Lynn Young and Paul and Linda (Bochert) Hamilton. Predeceased by his parents and step-father Walter Hudnall. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Forest Hills Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Mitch Sayler officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at church.
