Louise A. Hedges

May 31, 1919 — January 30, 2015

Louise A. Hedges 95, Rockford, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. She was born May 31, 1919, in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of Arthur B. and Hilda (Skare) Leverson. Louise graduated from Fargo High School and Interstate Business College. She married James A. Hedges in Walla Walla, WA on January 10, 1942. He died in 1968 at age 51. Louise was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Rockford Women’s Club, and the Sandy Hollow 9-Hole Ladies Golf Club. She worked for several years as a medical secretary for Dr. David Ellis and Associates. She enjoyed traveling with her family and in later years visited several foreign countries, including Korea where her son, Jeff, was stationed in the Air Force. Louise’s greatest sources of pleasure were her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Gary (Judy) Hedges of Scottsdale, AZ, Jane (Charles) Purin of Rockford, Michael (Gail) Hedges of Littleton, CO., and Jeffrey (YongMI) Hedges of Pocatello, Idaho; her grandchildren, Wendy Hedges, Brad Hedges, Erika (Aaron) Link, Michael (Christi) Purin, Christopher Purin, James (Heidi) Hedges, and Jonathan (Kristen) Hedges; her great-grandchildren, Elliott and Madeline Link, Dominic and Nicholas Purin, Parker and Riley Hedges; her brother, Harold Leverson of Austin, TX., her sister-in-law, Winnie Leverson of Bismarck, ND and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Theodore and Vernon; her brother-in- law, Arlie Hedges; her sisters-in law, Frankie Leverson, Margaret Leverson, and Joan Hedges and her nephew, James Leverson. Louise’s family would like to thank the many people who cared for and brightened her life during the many years she resided at Fairhaven. We are grateful to Dr. Charles Welford and his staff for their many years of compassionate care. We also thank Dr. John Roska who cared for her these last few months. Louise would want everyone who worked or resided at Fairhaven to be acknowledged for their incredible kindness and care. The staffs of the Cove and the third floor health center were her final care givers, offering their expertise, love, and support to Louise and her family. You will be in our hearts forever.
