Luong Q. Ngo

Luong Q. Ngo, 89, of Rockford, IL passed away on December 15, 2022. He was born May 1, 1933, in Viet Nam, the son of Dao Thi and Ruyet Quang Ngo.

Luong is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nguyet Ngo, his children, Kim Hue Nguyen, Tuyen (Le) Ngo, Kim Lan (Lith) Urai, Tuan (Alisia) Ngo and Thomas (Melissa) Ngo; his grandchildren, Jasmine, Nicholas, Brandon, Justin, Joslyn, Damon, Amaya and Ty, and great-grandchildren, Emma and Noah. He is preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Jennifer Vi.

Luong married Nguyet on March 30, 1960, in Vung Tau, Viet Nam. They came to the United States in April 1975.

He took great pride in his faith by being a long-time parishioner of St. Edward and Holy Family Catholic Church parishes in addition to being a member of the St. Mary Vietnamese Community.

Most importantly, Luong loved spending time with his family, whether it was at home or on one of his annual family trips. He enjoyed cooking and hosting his children and their families. He will always be fondly remembered for dressing up as Santa Claus on Christmas Day for his grandchildren.

His heartwarming smile and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew him. He had an essence that could brighten up anyone’s day.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107.
