Lynn E. Howard

Lynn E. Howard, 83, Rockford, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born August 14, 1939, in Loves Park, the son of Leon and Marie (Powers) Howard. Lynn was a graduate of Winnebago High School, class of 1957. He married Marie Padron in Rockford on September 26, 1968. Lynn worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years retiring in 1992, serving as the Postmaster of both the Rockton and the Freeport Post Offices. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and spent many years collecting sports memorabilia. Lynn was a member of NAPS (National Association of Postal Supervisors) and the Freeport Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed attending the sporting events at Winnebago High School especially football and basketball, finding garage sales, and taking his fall trips with Marie to see the colorful leaves. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marie; his children, Jason (Donett) Howard of Rockford, James (Pam) Howard of Winnebago, and Sandi (Luke) Burtman of Davis Junction; his grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) Ashworth and McCahl Murray; his brother-in-law, John Adams and his cousin, Tom Anderson; Predeceased by his parents and his sister, Sally Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel. 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
