Manuel "Manny, Lalo" G. Tejeda

Manuel “Manny, Lalo” G. Tejeda, 79, passed away at home on June 5, 2021, surrounded by his family. Manny was born March 23, 1942, the son of Manuel and Felisitas (DeLaCruz) Tejeda. He married his sweetheart, Estela Sandoval on April 25, 1969. Manny worked in receiving at Valspar for over 30 years.

Manny was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and loved going to Cubs games. He was a lovable, giving, and supportive man. He was very patient and caring to everyone he met. Manny enjoyed spending time at the Cubs Tap with his family and friends. His family was everything to him and he will be deeply missed.

Manny is survived by his wife, Estela; children, Felicia (Sergio) Tejeda-Carreño and Vince Tejeda-Rodriguez; grandchildren, Sergio (Brandiana), Cruz (Katie), and Rey Rey Carreño; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Carter, and Kai; siblings, Maria (Ernest) Balderrama and Mario (Ophelia) Tejeda; Beloved Aunt, Carmen Cruz; brother in-law, Felimon Sandavol; Godchildren, Michael Anthony, James, Rick, Justin, Stephanie, Sara, Michele, and Krystal, Martin, Rueben; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, mother and father in-law, and 8 brothers and sisters in-law. The family would like to send special thanks to Dr. Altayeh, Dr. Roger and caregiver Amy, for their care and compassion.

A public visitation will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 North Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103, with a rosary to follow at 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 14, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2505 School Street, Rockford, IL 61101. Cremation rites will be entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or the American Lung Association.
